Down of Bolton Sees Significant Service and Environmental Gains with ProMelt Magnesium Anti-Icing Program

Bolton, VT, February 03, 2026 — The Town of Bolton, Vermont is reporting substantial improvements in winter road maintenance efficiency, service levels, and environmental stewardship following the implementation of ProMelt Magnesium from Innovative Surface Solutions as part of its anti-icing and salt pre-wetting operations. Although Bolton’s population is only around 1,300, thousands visit the Town each year for natural and outdoor recreational activities. At its highest elevation, Bolton receives an average of over 300 inches of snow each year, underscoring the need for resilient road maintenance that has minimal environmental impact.

Since adopting ProMelt Magnesium, Bolton’s Highway Department has experienced enhanced road conditions during winter weather events, resulting in safer travel and faster response times. Improved levels of service have been positively recognized by both residents and the Select Board.
